Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information SaveInstAudio (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects when you use saveinstaudio.com (the “Service”), why we collect it, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain English. If anything is unclear, contact us at hello@saveinstaudio.com.

1. Summary

  • You don’t need an account, and we never ask for your Instagram login.
  • We process the link you paste only to convert it, and we don’t keep a history of links.
  • Converted audio files are stored temporarily and deleted automatically within about 15 minutes.
  • We use your IP address briefly to prevent abuse (rate limiting).
  • With your consent where required, we use Google Analytics and Google AdSense, which use cookies.

2. Information we process

Links you paste

When you submit an Instagram link, our server uses it to fetch the public content and convert its audio to MP3. We do not store the link in a database or associate it with you. Our server error logs record only a shortened, redacted form of the link (for example the type of content and the first characters of its ID) together with the error type, so we can fix problems. These logs are kept for no longer than 30 days.

Converted media

The MP3 we create is held in temporary storage on our server so you can preview and download it. It is deleted automatically after about 15 minutes, or sooner if the server restarts. We do not build a library of files, and we never share the file with anyone other than you.

IP address and technical data

Like any website, our server receives your IP address, browser type, and the page you requested. We use your IP address in memory to apply rate limits (for example, a maximum number of conversions per 10 minutes) and to protect the Service from automated abuse. Rate-limit counters are not written to disk and expire within an hour. Our hosting provider may keep standard access logs for security purposes for a limited period.

Contact form

If you contact us, we receive the name, email address, and message you provide, and use them only to reply. Messages are delivered through our email provider and kept only as long as needed to handle your request.

3. Cookies and local storage

We store two small preferences in your browser’s local storage: your theme choice (light or dark) and your cookie consent choice. These are not sent to us. Third-party cookies are only set if you allow them, or, outside the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, unless you opt out. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.

4. Google AdSense and advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads that help cover our running costs. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on our site. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

The DoubleClick DART cookie

Google uses the DoubleClick DART cookie to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU).

Third-party vendors

Other third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads through Google AdSense and may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. We do not control these vendors’ cookies; please consult their privacy policies.

5. Analytics

With your consent where required, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people use the Service and which pages are helpful. We enable IP anonymization, do not send the links you paste to Google Analytics, and do not combine analytics data with any other data about you.

6. Consent and Google Consent Mode

We use Google Consent Mode v2. For visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, advertising and analytics storage is denied by default and no advertising or analytics scripts are loaded until you choose “Accept all” in our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time using the “Manage cookies” link in the footer.

7. Legal bases (GDPR)

  • Performing the service you request — processing the link and creating the MP3.
  • Legitimate interests — security, rate limiting, and fixing errors.
  • Consent — analytics and advertising cookies in regions where consent is required.

8. Your rights

GDPR and UK GDPR

If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

CCPA / CPRA (California)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. To opt out of sharing for advertising, choose “Reject non-essential” in the cookie banner (reopen it from “Manage cookies”). We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Because we keep so little data, most requests can be answered quickly. Email hello@saveinstaudio.com and we will respond within 30 days.

9. Data retention

  • Converted audio files: deleted automatically within about 15 minutes.
  • Rate-limit counters: held in memory only, expire within an hour.
  • Redacted error logs: up to 30 days.
  • Contact messages: as long as needed to resolve your request, then deleted.

10. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security and international transfers

We use HTTPS everywhere, restrict server access, and keep data to a minimum so there is little to protect in the first place. Our servers and some of our providers (such as Google) may process data outside your country; where required, those transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
